“'This is the opera with which my artistic career really begins...'. When I first read this quote from Verdi many years ago, I was determined to perform this magnificent opera. My father was a minister, and from an early age these biblical stories were a part of my upbringing. Singing Nabucco at this time of my career is yet another important milestone in my circle of music - and life. It means a lot to me and I am very pleased to develop it under the baton of Meastro Meena. I have done many Verdi roles with Maestro Meena, most recently the role of Rigoletto. His dedication, expertise and fidelity to the bel canto repertoire is outstanding and something I truly appreciate.”

The Hebrew people are at war with the Babylonians. The Babylonian attack on Jerusalem is approaching. To save the city from destruction, Fenena, the daughter of the Babylonian king Nabucco, is hold as hostage. Fenena escaped to Jerusalem after releasing her beloved Ismaele, nephew of the king of Jerusalem, from the Babylonian captivity. Fenena is the sister of Abigaille. Abigaille demands the crown and Ismaele. Nabucco proclaims himself divine and orders the people to worship him. Abigaille has secured power and the imprisoned Hebrews plot revenge on the Babylonians. To whom belongs the world?
